The Resource Center
The homeless have many other pressing needs in their daily lives besides hunger. Many homeless men and women must struggle for access to vital prescription and over-the-counter medications. Many are in need of legal assistance, mental health counseling, and other services that extend beyond the immediate needs of food and shelter. Sometimes these are as simple as a haircut, a place to pick up mail, or bus tokens that will take them to shelters. The Shepherd's Table Resource Center began as a way to further improve the lives of those who suffer and, over the years, has become one of the most important parts of our mission. Last year, our bilingual counselor met with over 600 clients. We dispensed over 11,000 bus tokens and collected over 22,000 pieces of mail for clients whose only address is our address. Over 1000 prescriptions were filled. Over 200 haircuts were received. Nearly 500 blankets were handed out to people desperately in need of warmth. Our Resource Center is open from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. Monday through Friday, 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. on Wednesdays, and every day from 6 P.M. to 7:30. Social Case Manager/Bilingual Counselor, Director of Social Services,
