Crisp & Juicy: Local Restaurant Supporting Shepherd’s Table

The past year has been difficult for the restaurant industry, forcing many businesses to permanently shut their doors. Crisp & Juicy, however, has not been deterred from giving back to the community that’s supported the restaurant throughout the pandemic. In response to a national hunger crisis, the restaurant is donating an entire chicken to Shepherd’s Table with each purchase of a Superbowl Platter. All members of Montgomery County and the DC area are invited to support the project and help feed our neighbors.

Crisp & Juicy is renowned for the delicious Peruvian-style chicken they serve. Alfredo Izurieta, co-owner of Crisp & Juicy in Washington DC, Silver Spring, and Kensington loves the way the cuisine brings all types of communities together. “Everybody feels the same when they taste the rotisserie chicken we sell,” he shares. The tasty chicken and signature sauces keep guests returning, even during a pandemic. Like everyone, Crisp & Juicy faced unprecedented challenges with the onset of COVID-19, but unlike many restaurants, they continued to readily receive orders from their committed base. Humbled by the sustained support of the community, Alfredo and the organization wanted to return the kindness. In a time of great need, Crisp & Juicy wanted to respond with generosity.

The restaurant has partnered with several nonprofits in the area that work to address food insecurity, one of which is Shepherd’s Table. Alfredo first learned of Shepherd’s Table through the mayor of Kensington, Tracey Furman. Mayor Furman directed Alfredo to our Executive Director, Manny Hidalgo, who was thrilled to learn of Alfredo’s interest.

The partnership primarily revolves around the Superbowl Platter, a special deal on the menu that offers two whole chickens, four sides, and eight sauces for $42, feeding seven to eight people. It’s a particularly great deal for large families or small businesses and is often leveraged by organizations looking for a great team lunch. With each purchase where Shepherd’s Table is referenced, a whole chicken is donated to help feed our guests. If you’d like to enjoy the Peruvian chicken and also help support our work, order a Superbowl Platter in person or over the phone and mention Shepherd’s Table. Participating locations are as follows:

10534 Connecticut ave Kensington MD 20895

1314 East West Highway , Silver Spring MD 20910

4533 Wisconsin ave NW Washington DC 20016

It takes a village to take care of one another. As we weather collective hardship, Shepherd’s Table is grateful for the incredible businesses and organizations, like Crisp & Juicy, that understand the value of extending a hand to a neighbor in need.
